Our mission is to expand access to books, technology, and learning spaces across Ethiopia, especially in communities where no public libraries currently exist.
Ethiopia, home to more than 120 million people, has only about 237 public libraries. According to IFLA, there are 237 public libraries serving a total population of 130 million. The average collection per library is about 2,700 books (which is very low), with few periodicals and almost no audio-visual materials. The need is great.
By expanding into new communities, our future projects will reach even more children. Once we complete the opening of the Sendafa-Beke project in December, we plan to expand to other areas where libraries and educational resources are scarce. Our next target town is Sheno Town. We envision a future where every child has access to books, technology, and learning.
Every future library we open is a step toward ending illiteracy in Ethiopia. Your support, skills, and generosity can help us write the next chapter for thousands of children waiting for the gift of learning.
By supporting our future projects, you’re helping to bring books, computers, and safe learning spaces to the communities that need them most. Join us in turning this vision into reality.
Bringing children and books to fight illiteracy and inspire young minds to dream and explore. Our mission is to break the cycle of illiteracy and poverty by planting accessible, community-powered public libraries, making literacy and education accessible to everyone.
